This time he’s playing for keeps…

Rugged hockey star Dax O’Day has always had a thing for his best friend and teammate’s twin sister, but that’s a line you don’t cross. Not in hockey, and definitely not in life. He just can’t stop thinking about her, and when she turns to him for help, there isn’t a chance in hell he can refuse her—even if it means getting his hands dirty.

Beautiful and brilliant, Isla Campbell is a physics professor who comes from a titled Scottish family. She’s loved Dax since the first time they met, but he’s never really seen her like that. With her grandfather trying to marry her off, who better to come to her rescue than the most uninterested, eligible bachelor.

Dax is torn between walking away from the only life he’s ever known to answer the call of duty and keeping his distance from the woman he can’t live without. The longer they put off the inevitable, the harder it becomes to choose.

Nancy’s Review

This is actually the first book I’ve read in either of these series, but I liked the premise so I read it. Dax O’Day is completely swoon-worthy and Kat drew me right into this story. Dax is on of the Sidewinders and he has a year left on his contract. Isla Campbell is Dax’s best friend’s twin sister. She is a scientist with a PHD and lives in Scotland. She lives in a castle and I loved the chapters set there. There’s always been an attraction between these two. Isla, to get her grandfather to try to stop marrying her off, says she’s dating Dax and he’s her date to her brother’s wedding. I loved reading about a pretend relationship becoming a real one. I did find Isla to be quite selfish, which caused some major issues to occur. And the whole scoring on the SAT thing for Dax seemed kind of overdone. I’m glad he decided whether he was going to stay in hockey. You’ll have to read the book to find out. Dax had the perfect ending. I enjoyed this sports romance and I definitely have to go back and read the rest of the Royal Protectors! 4 stars

About the Author:

USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she’s called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She’s never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she’d probably choose the west coast.

A typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max), Kat can usually be found scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) – traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible.

Kat’s been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article–a review of a rock concert–for $10 in 1985. Since then she’s been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles.

As you can guess from her Las Vegas Sidewinders series, Kat loves hockey and occasionally writes articles about her favorite team, the Florida Panthers. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There’s something enticing about hockey players and romance…
